About Us

The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) was founded in 1968 to promote and advance aesthetic education, to cultivate the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts and to support the conservation of our national artistic heritage. NADFAS underwent a change of identity during early 2017 and is now known as The Arts Society.

Hereford Decorative and Fine Arts Society (HDFAS) has also re-branded and is now known as The Arts Society Hereford. Our society meets in the afternoon on the second Tuesday of the month when the main part of the meeting is taken up by a lecture on fine or any of the decorative arts. These are very varied in topic and we welcome suggestions from our members. Refreshments are available before each lecture.

Our Committee members are identified by their badges and welcome any questions or comments related to our society or lectures.

Our speakers, who are all experts in their specialist fields, are taken from a directory maintained by The Arts Society.

Visits (usually guided) are also arranged to places of artistic, architectural or heritage interest and there are opportunities for volunteering as a church recorder or heritage volunteer.

An exciting programme of lectures has been chosen for 2019/2020 using  quality lecturers selected from the  The Arts Society directory.

We continue to reflect in our programme a flavour of national developments in the arts, the media and in literature.
